Through a Magnifying Glass 9/4/23

Delving deeper into the real-life implementation of geriatric care, I have found the unfortunate truth about the perception of care for seniors within today’s society. The prevalence of scams related to health care such as insurances that don’t provide their services in times of need or facilities that leave patients neglected are fears that many families hold. Therefore, the idea that quality care is reserved solely for the wealthy is a common misconception that deters elderly patients from being admitted for age-specific care. So much so that people tend to ignore verified clinical trials that attest to the benefits of geriatric care alongside conventional treatments. As a result, both educational opportunities and the number of certified professionals in this field is much lower than the number of people in the targeted demographic(typically ages 65 and older). It is apparent that this problem will become more serious as we are transitioning into a time where the percentage of seniors in the population is on a rapid increase. Despite our aging population, the fear of lack-luster quality of care is one of the factors that stunts the growth of properly trained geriatrics, and I would like to explore methods that will allow me to dispel the stereotype.
